Kathy Stecko is an artist and educator working in Brooklyn, NY.  Her sculptural work focuses on dreamlike figuration and the human condition. Born in Detroit, MI she attended the University of Michigan earning her B.F.A and receiving the Avery Hopwood Award for Poetry.  She apprenticed at the Johnson Atelier (Trenton, NJ) for bronze-casting and then moved to New York to pursue her M.F.A at The New York Academy of Art.  Stecko is the recipient of the Traub Grant, an Urban Glass Scholarship and a 2-month residency at Sculpture Space. Stecko was nominated for the William and Dorothy Yeck Award and exhibited at Miami University’s Hiestand Galleries.   Her work has been exhibited at several venues including, PAN Amsterdam, The Grand Rapids Art Museum, Mana Contemporary, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and JanKossen Contemporary.
